Your care extends beyond the initial emergency treatment. We schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor your recovery and ensure the effectiveness of the treatment. FAQs About Dental Emergencies

What is considered a dental emergency?

A dental emergency is any situation that requires immediate attention to alleviate severe pain, stop bleeding, or save a tooth. This can include severe toothaches, knocked-out teeth, broken or chipped teeth, abscesses, and injuries to the soft tissues of the mouth. If you’re experiencing intense pain, significant swelling, or uncontrolled bleeding, it’s best to seek emergency dental care right away.

What to do in a dental emergency?

In a dental emergency, remain calm and take immediate action. For a knocked-out tooth, gently rinse it and try to place it back in the socket, or keep it moist in milk. For severe pain or swelling, use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek. Rinse your mouth with warm saltwater for infections or injuries. Most importantly, contact WA Dental or your local emergency dentist for professional guidance and treatment as soon as possible.

Is a dental implant falling out an emergency?

A dental implant falling out is considered an emergency and requires immediate attention. While the implant itself (the titanium post) rarely falls out if properly integrated, the crown or prosthetic tooth attached to it can become loose or fall off. If this happens, keep the prosthetic clean and bring it to your appointment. Contact us right away to prevent potential complications and to have the implant assessed and repaired promptly.

Is dental abscess an emergency?

Yes, a dental abscess is definitely an emergency. An abscess is a pocket of pus caused by a bacterial infection, which can be extremely painful and potentially serious if left untreated. It can lead to severe complications if the infection spreads to other parts of your body. If you suspect you have a dental abscess, characterized by severe, persistent toothache, fever, or swelling, contact WA Dental immediately for urgent treatment.

Can you go to ER for dental emergency?

While you can go to the ER for a dental emergency, it’s generally better to see a dentist if possible. Emergency rooms are equipped to manage pain and control infections, but they typically don’t have dentists on staff to provide comprehensive dental care. However, if you’re experiencing severe swelling that affects breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, or have suffered significant trauma to your face or jaw, an ER visit may be necessary. For most dental emergencies, contacting WA Dental or an emergency dentist is your best option for specialized care.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction Experience!

I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Chi and Deserae! From the moment I walked in, they were both so friendly and welcoming. They took the time to explain every step of the process in detail, which really helped calm my nerves. The procedure itself was incredibly smooth, fast, and completely painless. I really appreciated how both Dr. Chi and Deserae were great at having a calming conversation to keep me relaxed throughout. They also made sure I understood the aftercare process and what to expect in the days following. Highly recommend them for their professionalism and warm, caring approach!
